I’m a working winemaker and wine educator based in Cape Town.

I host private wine experiences for people who enjoy wine but are tired of the usual tasting-room script. Too often, wine is presented as a performance of flavour notes and technical language. My sessions take a different approach.

Instead of trying to impress, we explore wine in a way that is thoughtful, relaxed, and genuinely engaging.

The goal is simple: help people enjoy wine more by understanding it a little differently.

Hi, I’m Nathan.

Wine should be interesting, not intimidating.

Rather than asking guests to memorise tasting vocabulary or guess the “correct” aromas, I focus on helping people notice what they actually experience in the glass. Texture, balance, style, and place often reveal more about a wine than a long list of flavour descriptors.

Every session is structured, but never rigid. There is space for curiosity, questions, and conversation.

BEYOND THE TASTING NOTE

Most people have been told what they are supposed to taste in a wine.

But wine is far more interesting than a checklist of fruits and spices.

In these sessions we look at wine through flavour, structure, vineyard, winemaking decisions, and context. Guests often leave with a completely different way of thinking about wine.

LED BY A WORKING WINEMAKER

My perspective comes from both vineyard and cellar work.

I’ve worked across harvests and vineyard seasons, studying viticulture and oenology while gaining hands-on experience in real wineries. That background shapes how I talk about wine: practical, grounded, and connected to how wine is actually grown and made.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

All experiences are hosted privately or in very small groups.

This keeps the atmosphere relaxed and allows the session to adapt to the interests of the people attending. Some guests want a deeper technical conversation. Others simply want to explore great wines in a thoughtful setting.

Both approaches are welcome.
